Wild Card: LinkedIn
I am choosing LinkedIn as my wild card because I was recently invited to be a part of this business network. Check it out here: http://www.linkedin.com/
I’m only halfway through completing my profile because I am hoping for a change in my professional stats before I complete it.
Podcasts, Vodcasts, and YouTube
I looked at the Butterfly & Beautyfly and the last podcast was posted: 39 weeks, 3 days, 6 hours, 16 minutes, 16 seconds ago. I found this podcast using the entertainment genre link on the right hand side.
For Youtube the featured or spotlight video was Don’t Hassel the Hoff, David Hasselhoff which was an interview in San Francisco with the Hoffmeister. The K.I.T. car was there! I rated it 2 stars.
RSS
Yippie. I’m all caught up. I learned about RSS feeds and to prove it I’ll tell you about the item on the feed about the PHL.

There it is. With this knowledge I will be keeping up with Dilbert and Get Fuzzy.
IMing
I used to IM all the time. It’s how I did most of my initial communication with the guy who became my husband (yes, I met him online, but not a dating website, it was tribe.net, and he lived a mile away. It’s not a creepy thing all the time!). The meebo thing seems to me like it could bring lots o’ my friends on different platforms all to me..if I had friends….I mean if I had friends who happened to be logged on right now. That’s what I meant.
So how could this resource be good for libraries. Let me tell you. Homework help. Patron inquiries from those who don’t want to pick up a phone, or use gas. Library employee’s trying to communicate with each other without the huge email discussions.
So to finish this assignment do really I need to IM someone at the library? I really tried and no one was there.

Social Networks
I know that I am jumping to week 8 when I should be going in order, but here it is! I’m shaking things up! This one needed to be commented on first because A. I’ve done it before we started this whole My Web 2.0 thang, and B. I’m behind so it will make me feel not as far behind.
So a while back Administration decided a social network would be a great way for us to search and access info pertinent to our duties. We started “CCC Library Administration” network on ning.com http://ccclibadmin.ning.com/ and put our awesome mission statement at the heading. I invited all the Admin gals & Doug after the basic design was set and we formed a happy little network.
Rachel invited me to join the Library 2.0 network. I’ve already responded to a comment asking about Aquabrowser’s features.
Another week done, yea!
Google Documents Suite
Yes, I am just getting to this now. I know…I’m a slacker…..Anyway, I finally made time to put forth some effort to complete week 5 during week 8. So what do I think. It would be handy to have access to some documents. This feature would have been helpful a few weeks ago in order to complete some projects that I took home from work. Instead I had to keep emailing myself the updated file. I will use this.
Thank you Bill & Catherine.
del.icio.us
Woo! I am ahead of the game this week. I already have a del.icio.us account that I use practically daily. I love it and would recommend it to anyone.
Flickr – My Web 2.0 Week 3
http://www.flickr.com/photos/28008593@N03/
Here is the Flickr photostream that I created. Creating this account was easy as it is similar to creating accounts through Kodak, Snapfish, or Shutterfly, which I already use regularly. I wasn’t especially happy that I needed to create another email address just for Flickr. I don’t need more email accounts. The 2 pictures I uploaded are of my daughter during our visit to Florida last April.

Wikis
http://staffpicks.pbwiki.com/Books%20for%20Adults
There is the link to my first wiki entry ever. I reviewed Atomic Lobster by Tim Dorsey. I’m not secure in my writing abilities, so knowing that people might actually read it is intimidating. The process was not easy for me, but I followed the directions posted on StaffNet and completed the wiki in about 45 minutes (including writing the review). If I did it again I would definately need to have the directions with me. I am guessing the steps I followed though the CCC Library’s wiki are how most wikis are edited or added to. I will have to check out some others now!
So It Begins….Again
This is not my frist time blogging. I have done so on MySpace and tribe.net. You won’t find my profile on those networks anymore, because I became addicted to reading my friends’ blogs. Most of their blogs were completely pointless and I became angry at myself for wasting valuable time. So I quit. This time I will try and pick and choose who and what I look at with more forethought. Hopefully I won’t get sucked into a vortex of blogs.
